You should decide on how you are going about the Great Dane training before you bring your Great Dane home. Great Dane training is very important especially if you have children at home. No Jumping
Great Danes are really good with people and they always like to jump up to greet someone. This will not be a problem when the Dane is just a puppy and still cute in size, but when it becomes full grown, and still thinks that its size is still that of a puppy, it can cause a big problem. The first lesson in Great Dane training is to teach the puppy to stay down and not to jump on people. Reward the puppy whenever it refrains from jumping on you, especially when you first enter the room. When the dog gets down when you tell it to, it is also a good time to give a treat. Being consistent is the best way to teach your puppy. Positive reinforcement is a powerful tool in teaching your puppy whatever you want it to do. When the dog understands what you ask it to do during Great Dane training lessons, you should be able to teach your puppy to stay down and to keep it from jumping on you or anybody else.
Potty Training
Another important thing you should include in your Great Dane training is potty training. If you want a pet that will harmoniously live with you inside the house, your puppy must learn to go outside whenever it has to potty. The best way to do this is to look for warning signs. If the dog starts sniffing around and looks like it is ready to squat, bring it outdoor immediately. Then, after it has eliminated on the appropriate place or spot, reward it with food treats or offer lots of praises. Always be consistent in doing this, and make sure the dog knows what it is being rewarded for. In time, it will be a natural thing for the puppy to do.
Great Dane training is easy but it should be done while the Dane is still a puppy and is easy to control. As the dog gets older and bigger, Great Dane training may not be so easy anymore.
