Practice Leaving Home

Barking is one of the common complaints of dog owners.  And one of the many reasons that dog barks is when their owner leaves the house.  Some owners lavish their dog with attention before leaving the house.  They hug and cuddle their dog and then leave the house.  When a dog is used to this kind of attention from its owner, the dog will feel lonely when the owner leaves the house and begins to bark because they miss their owner and the attention that is given.  If this is your case, try to leave the house silently and without any fuss or leave the house when the dog is not around or by simply not making any eye contact with dog when you leave will stop dog from barking.  By doing these steps, the dog will not miss your attention while you are gone for the day.  It will be hard at first, but the dog will get used to it soon.  And the barking will get lesser in due time.

Give Them Something to Play with While You are Away

If you want to stop dog from barking, make sure to leave them something to play with while you are away.  Dogs tend to bark when they are bored or lonely.  Give them chew bones or toys to entertain them while you are not around so that they will not get bored and start barking.

There are many other reasons why dog barks.  Whatever the reasons may be, it is better to have your dog trained to stop barking when there is really nothing to bark about.  They will also learn to bark only when needed.  Training needs plenty of patience.  Some dogs learn easily while others may take time.  When you have found the means to stop dog from barking, always make sure to be consistent with what you are doing so that the dog may trust you and obey your command.
